How do i make money off of stocks?

I am wondering they are others ways of making money from stocks besides selling the stocks you bought.

I am trying to get in to the stock market so I really want to learn the ins and outs of it.

I am prepared for the gamble but I need some knowledge of it.

I am reading magazine and the internet post to learn.

I know you guys are more in the “Know” than I am.

    Besides selling stocks for capital gain (which is not a guarantee), certain stocks pay dividend. For example, if ABC stock pays $0.50 dividend per quarter and you own 100 shares, you’ll get $50 per quarter or $200 per year for just owning these shares.

    That said, if you are just starting out, I highly recommend that you buy diversified ETFs or mutual funds that are low-expense ratio and passively managed instead. The chance of a beginner picking out the right stocks is very slim.
