Asked by: 1357 views

I am making changes to my 401k and would like to increase my contribution. I looked around and saw $15,500, $16,500, and $22,000 as the maximum limit. Which one is the correct amount?

For 2010, 401k contribution limit is $16,500. If you are 50 years or older, you can contribute another $5,500 in catch-up contribution. This adds up to $22,000.

If you and your spouse are both eligible, you can each contribute the amounts above individually.
