How long can my employer wait to deposit my 401k contribution?

Asked by: twalls 133 views , ,

I am making bi-weekly contributions to my 401k, but my employer is taking over 2 weeks to post my contribution and their matching to my account. Is there a rule to how long it should take before I see my contributions.

According to 401khelpcenter, they should deposit the amount as soon as they can. The exact term that govern this is as follow:

“Employers must transmit employee contributions to pension plans as soon as they can reasonably be segregated from the employer’s general assets, but not later than the 15th business day of the month immediately after the month in which the contributions either were withheld or received by the employer.”

I would contact your HR department and ask about this.
